2024 Brown Bag Mystery Quilt Piece of Cake Finishing Kit

This is a listing for the FINISHING KIT ONLY - it includes enough border fabric for a border up to 10" and mitered plus binding fabric for the quilt top with a 10" border. 

The Brown Bag Mystery Quilt kit includes 100% cotton batik and/or printed cotton fabric and the cutting instructions. This Brown Bag Mystery Quilt will finish 60 in x 70 in before optional borders. There will be leftover fabric to use in borders and binding. Traditional quilt elements are combined to make an interesting design. The cutting instructions will prepare you to start sewing as soon as the first clue is released.

The first clue is available on March 16, International Quilt Day. The other five will be available every two weeks: March 16, March 30, April 13, April 27 and May 11. The last clue is the assembly instructions. Clues will be mailed on the day before copies are available to be picked up in the store.

A new private Facebook group for participants has been established. Karen Montgomery, our mystery quilt designer will do a Clue Video for each clue. It will be posted at midnight on the Friday before Clue Day. This will give you enough information for completing that clue and lots of tips and techniques along the way. A printed clue may be picked up at your shop on Clue Day. We will be mailing clues to all participants this year unless other arrangements are made.

Share your fabrics, choices, progress, and questions with other participants across the US and Canada on our private Facebook group. We need the email address you used to sign up for your Facebook account to add you to this group. If that email is different than used for this order, please put the Facebook email in the comment section. You will have to accept the invitation to be active in the group.

Each year, we do something a little different.  This year, our theme is Birthstones.  We have listed the month of the year, what that months stone is and what color that stone is.  We will build you a bag based on that color theme.  It really doesn't matter what YOUR birthstone is, just choose the color you want.  Just pull down on the section that says "style" and choose your stone.  Here is a great way to customize your bag; below the add to cart button, there is a section for Product Addons, choose a theme for your finishing kit that you would like to coordinate with your chosen color.  The border and binding will be included in the finishing kit.  We will cut your kit to order to combine the border and quilt theme.  In this section, you can also choose things to make your experience complete.  Backing fabric, suggested rulers and notions etc.

Please keep in mind that your bags will be cut to order so a little extra time might be needed to create this one of a kind kit.
