Have you ever wanted a project that you could easily carry with you anywhere? Want to try English Paper Piecing but the patterns look daunting or not quite as modern as you'd like? Join Carrie in making this making this fresh, fun, skill building English Paper Piecing project that allows you to learn curved piecing skills, fussing cutting and strategic use of wonderful fabrics. This pattern makes a 22" wide x 25" tall mini quilt which can be used as a wall hanging, or you can applique it onto a square of fabric and make it into a cushion. The pattern is by the fabulous and innovative Libs Elliott.

Materials Needed:
  • Fabric kits are available in the shop if you don't want to choose fabric!!
  • Heartburst EPP Quilt Kit - by Libs Elliott (pattern and complete paper pieces pack)
  • Heartburst Acrylic Fabric Cutting Template Set (with 1/4" seam allowance)
  • For the hearts you will need a total of 1 fat quarter of fabric
  • For the background pieces you will need no more than a fat quarter of each fabric.
  • Quilt Back - 3/4 yard, Binding 1/4 yard.
  • Clover Wonder Clips - few of these
  • Purple Thang
  • Quilter's Select Glue Pen
  • Ruler (on the smallish side like 3-1/2" x 12" or smaller)
  • Sewline Fabric Pencil (color appropriate for your fabric) or other removable fabric marking pen
  • Hand sewing needles (personal preference, but Carrie uses Sue Daley size 11 milliners needles)
  • Bottom line thread for sewing (light gray & med/dark gray)
  • Fabric scissors - Karen Kay Buckley
  • Small rotary cutter (18mm or 28mm)
  • Small cutting mat
  • Applique pins
  • Small travel iron & small ironing mat
  • Light box if you have one
  • Batting (not needed for class)
  • Bring a lunch - we will only take 30 minutes for lunch, and we will all break at the same time - 12:30-1:00.

If you would like to make your project like the picture, there will be kits available in the shop closer to class date. If you would like help picking out your fabrics, come by the shop, Angie can help you, or bring "play" fabric to class to learn the skills and Carrie can help you pick out "real" fabric the day of class.
